So colleges aren’t required to report rape to the police!?! I don’t understand.

Imagine if it were murder. Seven guys murder someone in their frat house, but school officials investigating the murder decide it was just a little murder, not particularly significant, and it’s so important not to interrupt the education of the frat boys who participated. We can take care of this inhouse.

The murdered kid probably asked for it.  We all feel bad for that kid and their family, but what can you do now? Kids get drunk and things happen.

Okay, so two of them get expelled. But the others? Hey, we’re an educational institution! Let’s make them write essays about how bad murder is! And the kids who got texts from the seven, inviting them to come participate in the murder? Who knew a murder was happening and didn’t do anything to stop it? They receive no consequences.

Those great boys grow up to be the next generation of privileged men who cover up the crimes of the next generation.
